Interactive X’mas Tree – 2011

The workshop aimed to re-design the X’mas tree into an interactive kinetic shape that reacts with user inputs or environmental inputs such as sound, touch, weather, temperature etc. Participants get to modify commercial X’mas lights as a chunk of controllable LED lights, and interface them with various sensors and actuators to create new concepts of Interactive X’mas Lighting design.

Attendees utilize the DIC interaction design toolkit to create proof-of-concept working prototypes to evaluate their design ideas. The toolkit is designed to create interactive/kinetic actions without prior knowledge of electronics or programming.
